As an independent voter in America, I move between TV networks to listen to the news to get a balanced view from the opposing sides of the aisle. However, what I hear these days on Fox News and some other right-wing news media is short of racist. They use derogatory words, they mock their opponents, and racially profile minorities at will. This is beyond disturbing and disgusting...I can't watch these channels when my children are around, so I just stopped...
What a Fox News host said lately about Americans of African descent is disgusting and racist, to say the least. "If the BLACKS want to have more seats, they've got to get in between sheets." If their progenitor will post racist memes of his predecessors, and everyone excused him, what do you expect? They asked for it, they will get...
Their position on racial gerrymandering that has been institutionalized by a partisan SCOTUS is disturbing. Those who say American democracy is deeply flawed and in decline may not be wrong with the current trend. If in 2026, one man will direct his entire party to redraw maps to subvert the wishes of the people, then it is shameful - those who stand for the truth in their party are primaried and removed by a blindly loyal base that wants nothing but a racist America where only Caucasian men dominate. This is what you see in countries where there is no rule of law. When racism and discrimination are institutionalized, trouble is coming.
I trust one thing: the majority of Americans are honest people, and they are not stupid. They tell us that they don't care about economic hardships while they rake in billions of dollars; they tell us that gas prices we see are not real; they tells that high cost of living is a hoax created by the left; they tell us that the economy is great and if it is bad, it is because of Biden; they tell us that it is good for us to disenfranchise minorities by redrawing maps to remove them from the Congress - silence their voice, and they all laughing about it now to our faces... I am confident Americans on both sides will go to the polls in November to send a message that our democracy is still strong... That it is "The government of the PEOPLE, by the PEOPLE and for the PEOPLE."
I just came back from Nigeria . I traversed the length and breadth of the nation a bit in my three-week stay. Something is different about the country compared to when I visited last year.... The people are more desperate... Hunger has increased astronomically.... The gap between the haves and have-nots has further widened... You feel impunity in the air... You see police collecting bribes openly like we have not seen since the Shagari era in 1983... There are more law enforcement agents on the roads now, yet the crime rate has not abated... You see VIO , Road Safety, State Law enforcers, the Police, everywhere mounting illegal roadblocks... I heard things from those close to the seat of power about those who hold the reins of power, and I weep for Nigeria - it is beyond disheartening... Projects are being abandoned because a significant portion has been given as bribes to government officials like governors and ministers, including major monarchs - they all collect money for projects...
