THREE DAYS AFTER SEYI MAKINDE DECLARED FOR PRESIDENT OF NIGERIA, BANDITS STRUCK IN HIS BACKYARD... HOW CONVENIENT...


I listened to a podcast by a Nigerian who wrote about President Buhari's government and who really was in control. He revealed that banditry has become a criminal enterprise in Nigeria, with nearly a hundred bandit groups ready for hire to carry out the wishes of their benefactors. That major actors within government at every level contract them to carry out their wishes at will. 
 
THREE days after Governor Seyi Makinde declared to run for president of Nigeria, bandits struck in his state. This has never happened before in the southwestern part of Nigeria. NEVER...
 
When politics becomes a do-or-die affair, and the people become the pim-pom ball that politicians are playing, we have entered a dark era in Nigerian politics. 
 
What is the level of support the Federal security apparatus is providing to the Oyo State government to end this quickly? A teacher was beheaded this morning among the captives. State governors are handicapped in providing security to their people. So, if anyone thinks that this is on the state government, they are deceived. This is on President Tinubu, and it reflects a failure of his government to protect Nigerians from bandits... 
 
The children and their teachers must be rescued alive (it can be done), and these nefarious people must be taught a lesson that will serve as a deterrent to others.

STATE OF THE NATION - Nigeria takes one step forward, and ten steps backward...

I just came back from Nigeria . I traversed the length and breadth of the nation a bit in my three-week stay. Something is different about the country compared to when I visited last year.... The people are more desperate... Hunger has increased astronomically.... The gap between the haves and have-nots has further widened... You feel impunity in the air... You see police collecting bribes openly like we have not seen since the Shagari era in 1983... There are more law enforcement agents on the roads now, yet the crime rate has not abated... You see VIO , Road Safety, State Law enforcers, the Police, everywhere mounting illegal roadblocks... I heard things from those close to the seat of power about those who hold the reins of power, and I weep for Nigeria - it is beyond disheartening... Projects are being abandoned because a significant portion has been given as bribes to government officials like governors and ministers, including major monarchs - they all collect money for projects...
