Our world will never remain the same

Like a dream, thoughts were cast and statements were made, sown like seeds Nobody thought they will land, let alone grow and stay in the heart of men Alas! The chord struck resonated, it resonated with those who call themselves patriots The chord sounded like the one we just heard across the sea The sound became louder and it was re-echoed The time came, and choices were made Before we know what was going on, our greatest nightmare has become a reality (came true) The realty TV actor and pseudo-business mogul has been elected the leader of the most powerful country in the world Our world will never remain the same again – which way, no one can tell But there are lots of fears, that we may be reaching the beginning of the end Those who were trusted to make this change are convinced that this is what is needed But no one knows if they knew the full import of their decision While some held on to the promises that are too good to be true Some just wante

American Exceptionalism - how true is it?

Americans claim exceptionalism and many people say what a people full of themselves - but they have proved it over and over again in the last 75 - 80 years since the 2nd world war. Look at some incredible records set by Americans in the current Olympics - Michael Phelps is the most decorated Olympian ever - 26 medals, 22 of which are gold (he may win 2 more before the game is over). Phelps' record will stand for years to come, and he may return in 2020 for more medals; Simone Biles is the best (in terms of championship and medals won) gymnast (male or female) of all time - 4 times US All round gymnastic champion back-to-back, 3 times world gymnastic champion back-to-back, Olympic all round gold medalist (she has won 3 gold medals already and she will probably be the first female gymnast to win 5 gold medals if she continues at the level she is going; an American, Kim Rhode is the only person to have won a medal at six consecutive summer Olympics, she has been winning a medal

It was because of that experience that I dislike eating LAFUN till today because I ate more than enough of it. It was the easiest and cheapest cassava staple food to make. The suffering of that time is in no way comparable to the suffering civil servants and pensioners are facing today, and invariably most Nigerians in one way or the other. Many have not been paid salary in upward of 6 - 12 months in some states. Pensioners are no different, in fact they are the most neglected because they are no longer in active service so there is no w
