"Forgive and forget Syndrome", bane to good governance in Nigeria.

"Forgive and forget Syndrome", bane to good governance in Nigeria.

It appears Nigerians have a short memory. The confusion created by religious doctrine of forgiveness has created a culture of wicked impunity in leadership. It is unbelievable how the "Syndrome of Forgive and Forget" has permeated every faceted of life in the country.

We are quick to forget the corruption of many politicians so much so those who suffered because of the wicked acts of these politicians are the one that lead the call for elevation later... Sometimes because of vested interest that clouds their judgment and their ability to make rational decision.

They canvas for politicians we do not know their real name, we do not know their parents or state of origin, they canvas for politicians we saw with our own korokoro eyes that collected bribe, they advocate national honor for leaders that decimated our economy for lack of mental acumen to lead, they openly support known thieves to get into position of power again - people who continue to siphon the commonwealth in their previous positions either through triple salary or cooperation they own that continues to milk taxpayers money.

Amaechi, former governor of Rivers state and two minister under Buhari has said repeatedly that Nigerians are not ready for good governance because they accept anything and everything thrown at them. He posit that which politician will say they have not abused their position to enrich themselves (Amaechi's word - which politician is not a thief), which has not falsified documents or skip national assignment like NYSC to get into position? He once said many politicians including himself should be stoned when seen in public. A very respected preacher said after May 2023 election that Nigerians should forget the past .... Yoruba bo won ni - amunkun eru wo - oni, oke lehun wo e wo isale... (a man with a crooked leg was asked why the load on his head is bent, he said that you are only focusing on what is on my head and not my imbalance legs). When the foundation is weak...... what can you build on it. Ile tia fi ito mo, iri nio wo - house built on sand cannot stand the test of time.

Nigeria is broke ... badly broke and it is hanging on a thread of thin rope.. Many people live from hand to mouth today.... because of years of saying let by-gone be by-gone. If you do not learn from the mistakes of the past and you keep doing the same thing and expect a different result, the world will soon conclude you are irredeemable and crazy.... If Nigerians do not change, in 10 to 20 years, we will still be crying of poor governance and the situation will even be more dial.

My prayer is that I see Nigeria of my dream in my life time.... A people so blessed but has little to show for it....

THE GREATEST ASSET EVER – LAND “Every time I make a movie, I buy a LAND” – Tiffany Haddish (Actress, Comedian, Singer, and Producer). If you do not know yet, I announce to you that the greatest asset that will give you an assured return, whose value hardly depreciates, is LANDED property . Reflect on the major wars going on right now in the world that are predicated on the issue of LAND. WHY? It is one of the GEM God endows humanity with that is finite in quantity. While the human population continues to increase, land area remains the same or is diminishing due to climate change. The Russia's war in Ukraine , the Gaza war , the DRC-M23 war/Rwanda , Sudan's civil war , the Cambodia–Thai war , herdsmen-farmers' violence in Nigeria and the Ethiopian civil war … all are predicated on access to land and what is in it – rare earth minerals . So, in 2026 , if you have the opportunity to invest in an asset, think about landed property.

WHY DO BAD THINGS HAPPEN TO EXTREMELY GOOD PEOPLE

There is a saying in my language, Yoruba , that “Igi to ba to, kii pe n’gbo” – meaning, the good ones do not seem to last or live long. WHY? Tatiana Schlossberg, granddaughter of John F Kennedy (The U.S. President who championed the civil rights movement to end discrimination; one of the greatest U.S. presidents ever) and daughter of Jacqueline Kennedy Onassis , passed away today from cancer at a young age of 35. Like her grandfather and many others in the Kennedy family, she dedicated her life to changing the world. She was a passionate environmental journalist for the New York Times and wrote a book titled "Inconspicuous Consumption: The Environmental Impact You Don’t Know You Have” in 2019 that won the Society of Environmental Journalists’ Rachel Carson Environment Book Award in 2020. Her life’s work sheds light on how individuals’ daily activities and choices exacerbate climate change issues . Tatiana Schlossberg's work focused on making complex environmental issue...
