AN ENIGMA, A GHOST AT BEST

  • We do not know his real name, we know the name he bears is adopted. He has neither denied this nor say it is the truth.
  • We do not know who his parents were.... we know the famous Iyalode of Eko was not his biological mother....
  • We do not know a single member of his extended family
  • We do know which schools he attended ... the one he submitted was not founded when he claimed he attended the school.. meaning, he used Oluwole certificate to gain admission to the College in the U.S. It is best to imagine the implication of this for future prospective Nigerian student into foreign university….
  • We do not know his real age because there are conflicting information on official documents
  • We do not know his real state of origin... we know he claims one but we know he is connected to another because his nephew was installed as a governor in one.....

His whole life is shrouded in misery and full of all kinds of questions. It reminds me of college politics when people with all kind of background scheme to grab power of the student union government at all cost..

I do not know how you can put a lipstick on a pig and call it beautiful... a pig is a pig, it will go back to the mud. You can dress him up today and curtail him, when no one is looking, he would go back to the mud. We have started seeing the signs.... insensitive spending of borrowed money for palliative that they share one 10 kg bag of rice for 147 households (check, that 10 kg will be more expensive than 50 kg bag),... gross abuse of the power and use of apparatus of government to torment and witch hunt political enemies, irrational decisions that have upended the lives of ordinary Nigerians, we see haphazard appointments across board - inexperienced minors being placed in sensitive positions and nepotism in appointment that shows as if public office is now the right of some families where you see two or three generations being appointed to the same public office. We see the same old culture where it is difficult to differentiate facts from tricks.... when obvious evidence that could shake our political direction was trashed on the ground of technicalities and one of their own came out to lampoon the justices for corruption .... and you see ordinary Nigerians who bear the most burden of failed state and unscrupulous activities of the political class come out to castigate a perennial politician who confessed to a life-style of stealing by politicians – just his conscience was pricking him. Aja tio o s’onu, ko ni gbo fere olode… A dog that will get lost in the jungle will not hear the whistling of its owner.

STATE OF THE NATION - Nigeria takes one step forward, and ten steps backward...

I just came back from Nigeria . I traversed the length and breadth of the nation a bit in my three-week stay. Something is different about the country compared to when I visited last year.... The people are more desperate... Hunger has increased astronomically.... The gap between the haves and have-nots has further widened... You feel impunity in the air... You see police collecting bribes openly like we have not seen since the Shagari era in 1983... There are more law enforcement agents on the roads now, yet the crime rate has not abated... You see VIO , Road Safety, State Law enforcers, the Police, everywhere mounting illegal roadblocks... I heard things from those close to the seat of power about those who hold the reins of power, and I weep for Nigeria - it is beyond disheartening... Projects are being abandoned because a significant portion has been given as bribes to government officials like governors and ministers, including major monarchs - they all collect money for projects...

WAR SERVES NO GOOD ENDING - AT LEAST, NOT FOR THE WEST

Warmongers are about to escalate the crisis in the Middle East . These people appear clueless about the cost of war. The U.S. Congress will not fund another war, including politicians on both sides. There is opposition to another war anywhere. They want to use brute force to compel Congress to act - they have amassed over 50,000 troops in the Middle East... They are miscalculating, thinking they can go in and come out quickly... they are underestimating their opponent again... The lesson of the last six weeks is not enough. This is another Afghanistan in the making - trillions was spent fighting the Taliban for almost 20 years, only for the Taliban to return the government they have propped up in just a few days of war... They pray (not sure, which god - not the God of the Bible I read, who under grace abhor wars) about going to fight a needless war; they are sending other people's children to go and die, while their own are safe under the protection of the state. Over 7,000 A...
