Key deliverables Nigerians are yearning for from their leaders...

1. The completion of Ajaokuta Steel Rolling Mill. This is critical to jump-start the manufacturing sector in Nigeria.
2. The completion of the dredging of the Rivers Niger and Benue. Logistics is key in the industrialization of any country... Road transportation is not reliable for shipping heavy goods. We need to use our waterways better.
3. The restoration of the textile industry across the length and breadth of Nigeria.
4. The creation of durable economic zones across every state in Nigeria with strong foreign and private sector investment
5. Tackle the perennial power generation and distribution problem
6. Funding of education - competitive scholarship, living wages for university staff, infrastructural development... Free education up to high school level, more vocational training schools, among others.
7. True privatization of the downstream petroleum (refining) sector... More actors that can build refineries will be licensed and provided credits... Sale of all government-owned refineries, with some stakes left for long-term gains.
8. Funding of the Tech sector to make Nigeria the Tech hub in Africa.
9. Fight corruption head-on...
10. Decimate terrorism and stamp out banditry... empower our military by removing corruption and increasing morale for our troops fighting these evil... work with foreign partners for modern equipment to follow these bad elements to wherever they might and make a scapegoat out of a few... There cannot be a prosperous Nigeria when our people are not safe and secure....
11. Make Nigeria the tourist center of choice on the continent of Africa... we are losing a lot of money every year to other countries because of so many factors... visa issue, insecurity, underdeveloped tourism sector, among others... Tourism will bring in so much foreign exchange and help grow supporting businesses...
12. Rebrand our country through strategic campaigns.

If we can get a crop of leaders that will deliver half of the above, we will lift tens of millions of Nigerians out of poverty. We have the people capable of leading and delivering these and more..., we just need to give them the chance... Are we not tired of being the laughing stock of the rest of the world....

STATE OF THE NATION - Nigeria takes one step forward, and ten steps backward...

I just came back from Nigeria . I traversed the length and breadth of the nation a bit in my three-week stay. Something is different about the country compared to when I visited last year.... The people are more desperate... Hunger has increased astronomically.... The gap between the haves and have-nots has further widened... You feel impunity in the air... You see police collecting bribes openly like we have not seen since the Shagari era in 1983... There are more law enforcement agents on the roads now, yet the crime rate has not abated... You see VIO , Road Safety, State Law enforcers, the Police, everywhere mounting illegal roadblocks... I heard things from those close to the seat of power about those who hold the reins of power, and I weep for Nigeria - it is beyond disheartening... Projects are being abandoned because a significant portion has been given as bribes to government officials like governors and ministers, including major monarchs - they all collect money for projects...

WAR SERVES NO GOOD ENDING - AT LEAST, NOT FOR THE WEST

Warmongers are about to escalate the crisis in the Middle East . These people appear clueless about the cost of war. The U.S. Congress will not fund another war, including politicians on both sides. There is opposition to another war anywhere. They want to use brute force to compel Congress to act - they have amassed over 50,000 troops in the Middle East... They are miscalculating, thinking they can go in and come out quickly... they are underestimating their opponent again... The lesson of the last six weeks is not enough. This is another Afghanistan in the making - trillions was spent fighting the Taliban for almost 20 years, only for the Taliban to return the government they have propped up in just a few days of war... They pray (not sure, which god - not the God of the Bible I read, who under grace abhor wars) about going to fight a needless war; they are sending other people's children to go and die, while their own are safe under the protection of the state. Over 7,000 A...
