COVID-19 and Experience of those who have had it

My Message to those who refused to Take the COVID-19 Vaccine when they have access to it or those who refused to protect themselves and their family.

I am watching the former New Jersey governor's interview right now and it sets me thinking about my own bout with pneumonia last April-May that brought me close to the point of death. Beyond my being a staunch embracer of science, having bacteria pneumonia with all the symptoms that resemble that of coronavirus was all I needed to know I should take all the precautions against the viral (SARS-CoV-2) pneumonia seriously. It is an experience you would not wish for your worst enemy.

When I took ill, I did not have a problem breathing, I was not hospitalized beyond a visit to the emergency but I lost appetite and lost 20 Ibs (9.1 kg) in five days, I had a body temperature that rose to 103.7 °F (40 °C), my liver function indices were between 300 to 900% above the norm - I was literally having organ failure. It was a horrifying experience that changed me and helped me reset, slow down and change my priorities. Bacteria pneumonia symptoms are not as severe as viral pneumonia but it was going to the valley of the shadow of death for me. I cannot imagine what those who had covid-19 and were symptomatic, went through. Those who were hesitant and had survived the virus would tell everyone hesitant to reconsider. I do not know how many people with the virus on their hospital bed cried, yelled, screamed, and prayed that all their family members who refused to take the vaccine should reconsider. It is the worst experience - aside from the pain of the sickness, you will die alone without family members being allowed near you. Over 70% of those hospitalized in the US today had not taken the vaccine.

As of today, over 764, 000 Americans have died from the virus, more than 5.1 million have died from the virus worldwide. For my folks in Nigeria and Africa, the lack of good record-keeping is one of the reasons why many do not know that several people around them actually died of coronavirus and many more will die if we don't take precautions. Another reason is the low population of people above 65 years, which constitutes almost 70% of those who died of the disease outside of Africa. Life expectancy in Nigeria is below 53. The few old people around us are the ones that will continue to die untimely if we continue to be reckless and give God the praise he did not ask for - there is nothing like a special grace against covid-19 that has not protected Africa against other diseases. A covid-19 antigen study done in Nigeria late last year showed that the infection rate in Lagos and three other states was about 20%, which made Nigeria the number one country in the world with the highest covid-19 infection rate per capita, this was before the highly contagious delta variant. South Africa's death number (87,417 - about 42% of total death from covid in the continent from a country with < 5% of Africa's population) also exposed another reason why the numbers coming out of other African countries are grossly under-reported.

I had understand the concern some may have, especially the religious folks who say this the 666 sign – they are saying if you don’t get it you can’t work, you can enter public places. Those who know the Bible will tell you that this is a false interpretation of the end-time. There is no anti-Christ, there is no global enforcement of the vaccine, and no one is being given a sign. The technology that developed the vaccine has been used to develop other treatments that some who refused the vaccine have taken in the past. I liken this to those who said I hate “Obama Care” but I like “Affordable Care Acts” not knowing they are the same. The vaccine is safe, I have taken the booster shot. Everybody in my family has taken the vaccine including my mother, brother, and his family in Nigeria.

I hope many more people will take the vaccine, I hope will continue to take all the precautionary steps to protect themselves before they have access to the vaccine.

When you discover the wisdom of the universe, it is as if...

When you locate the wisdom of the universe, it would be as if you have a magic wand... Your prosperity rolls over, you climb to the top faster and leave many behind... Funke Akindele's movie, "A tribe called Judah" remains the highest-grossing movie in Nollywood (Nigeria's movie industry). I saw the movie last week and could not make head or tail of it.. But something was unique about it. It was the first Nigerian movie that cast MANY actors from all the major ethnic groups in the nation.. These are top actors... For so long, Nollywood has been divided along ethnic lines... You have the Yorubas doing their thing, the Igbos doing their own and our brothers in the North, the Hausas doing their own. But this movie cast actors from everywhere, so, it became a must-see for almost all Nigerians ... Funke Akindele is a talented writer, actor, and producer. But she is also a shrewd businesswoman. She located the wisdom in tapping the talent of diverse ethnic groups in Nigeria...

Wannabee Prime Minister that is Denigrating her Native Country... for What?

Omo ale lo maa hun fi owo osi j'uwe ile baba eh - it is a BASTARD child that uses the left hand to describe her father's house.... We should speak honestly about our country, but when you hold a position like Kemi does decorum is essential. She could say the same thing in a way that will not impact the lives of ordinary Nigerians who live and make a honest living across the globe. She is an opposition leader for crying out loud... She is dragging her native country deep into the mud to gain cheap popularity.... She will need the votes of Nigerians if she will ever be Prime Minister one day. Every letter of her words will come back to hunt her... I trust Nigerians in the UK will not only mobilize against her, but they will also mobilize other Africans and Carribeans to shun her...
