I do not subscribe to the politics of ethnicity. It is not the best but in the context of Ngierian politics, it is what seem to work. Unfortunately, the political clime in Nigeria is not mature enough to stand on the personality of the candidate. The main parties zone everything from the presidential candidate to, vp, senate president and the speaker, even the service chiefs until Buhari's last 4 years where he broke
Presidential politics of 2023 will be very dramatic. I am just thinking of how the Igbo factor will play out. If neither of the main political parties who have produced an Igbo presidential candidate, and there is no formidable Igbo candidate from any of the other parties, it will be exactly 53 years that the Igbos have be excluded from the top job in Nigeria after the civil war in 1970, and 57 years after the last Igbo leadership. Tinubu is gearing up to be APC candidate in 2023 from the information being peddled. Maybe PDP will field an Igbo candidate with a northern vice. It will be interesting how this will play out.
Up till now, the political parties have played the politics of zoning. Buhari has surrounded himself with politicians of northern extraction to the chagrin of others. All the security chiefs but 2 are of northern extraction. If APC want to be and not want to be a madiator of chaos in 2023, they should field an Igbo candidate. The zoning formula should be in Igbos' favor in 2023 after 57 years of exclusion. We want peace in Nigeria.
