TRUMP TAX CUT, WHERE WILL THE TREE FALL?

Ikun nje ogede, ikun re'di, ikun o mo pe ohun to dun npani - meaning "the Squirrel is eating the banana, it is enjoying itself; the Squirrel does not know what is sweet kills".
The tax cut today will benefit people like me for awhile, while the richest people in America like Donald Trump and his billionaire cabinet, will enjoy a massive and "permanent" tax cut on money being borrowed from China, $1.5 trillion. They said, oh, the rich will reinvest the gain of the tax cut so the tax cut will pay for itself. Hummmmmm. I wish it is one plus one equal two - knowing the greed inherent in human nature, the smell of disaster is around the corner.

Let the American RNC politicians ask Mikhail Gorbachev what led to the weakening and eventual collapse of USSR when Perestroika and Glasnost policies were been implemented concurrently - the Russian played into the arms of America. I see Putin repaying the favor now by purportedly meddling in American election and playing Trump cards. America is just recovering from many wasteful years of wars initiated by the RNC under Bush junior - more than $7 trillion has allegedly been spent to prosecute the war in Afghanistan and Iraq. The money for the economic gain under Obama that rescued the US economy (while the rest of the world's economy went into crisis) from massive recession was borrowed from China. China is stronger for this foolishness on the part of the Yankees. America is on the verge of another war with North Korea and then is this massive tax cut that is a gift to the richest 0.01% to be paid for by borrowed money that the middle class yet unborn will have to pay. There is the revamp of the decaying American infrastructure and the tall tall tall wall between the US and Mexico - all that needs billions of dollars in spending. It is not clear where the money will come from. The ordinary Americans - the middle class who pay most of the tax and have not seen any increase in their pay in a long time. However, what we are already seeing is cut to important areas such as education, policing, regulatory agencies, social welfare system, and healthcare, etc.

This current situation makes me conclude one more time that people are the same everywhere (in America or Nigeria - I do not see any difference in some of the politicians in America and those in Nigeria in terms of the policies they float and support), you find some greedy ones and some few who truly care about ordinary people. Politicians in Nigeria will share bags of rice, quickly pave bad roads, pay an outstanding salary, etc. when they see an election coming, all in order to win the electorates' support - Alas, the people have been short-changed because all the effort are TEMPORARY. I see same here on the part of the RNC - they want to give a gift (though legal). People are often worse off than before the election. There are two possible outcomes here, and either would have a far-reaching effect - it is either the tax cut "make America great again" or it destroys America as we know it. Ti a ba nge igi n'igbo, o soro lati mo ibiti'o wo si - meaning, when you are cutting a tree in the forest, it is difficult to predict where it will fall. Whatever the case, God's will be done and His kingdom will come on us.

This is Cacophony at Best...

MAGA destroyed DEI but they want to implement DEI at Harvard... They claim the school is not diverse enough. They have too many liberals, so they need to hire more conservative, whether they meet the hiring requirement or survive the rigor of delivering excellence at Harvard or not. This is what they claim DEI is all about - hiring people based on race, they claim, but they have no issue telling Harvard to hire based on political ideology.... You read the same thing about BLM and Antisemitism. They say BLM reflects poorly on the history of America... Critical race theory is false history... slaves loved being in captivity, they loved their masters and served willingly... there is no more discrimination based on the color of your skin in America - but all the metrics point in the opposite direction... Jewish Lives Matter; Black Lives Matter, and Palestinian Lives Matter... All Lives Matter. A terrorist life should not be equal to 20 innocent Palestinian life... It is okay to forget abou...

Until Ordinary Nigerians Seize the Power that Belongs to them, There Will Not Be Progress in That Country

Until Ordinary Nigerians Seize the Power that Belongs to them, There Will Not Be Progress in That Country When I see the shameful drama unfolding in the Senate in Nigeria, I see impunity. When those who are supposedly elected into political offices are abusing the power they hold in trust for the rest of us in daylight, then you know they have no fear of the electorate... The Senate President in Nigeria, Akpabio, forced a motion that obviously failed, down the throat of his colleagues... The motion was to humiliate Senator Natasha and force her to apologize for daring to accuse Akpabio of alleged sexual harassment before she is re-admitted to the senate after serving the unlawful six-month suspension imposed on her. What saddens me the most are the fellow female senators who have either kept quiet or have reprimanded Senator Natasha for speaking out, including the wife of the president, Remi Tinubu, who faced many sexist comments and threats when she was a senator. Remi Tinubu wa...
