INEC FAILED NIGERIANS - RENEGED ON ITS PROMISES ON HOW THE PRESIDENTIAL ELECTION WOULD BE CONDUCTED

INEC's leadership failed Nigerians again. The chairman promised everywhere from Chatham House to national television. He promised unequivocally that results would be transmitted electronically. He made claims that they have test-ran the technology at the state level. He was vividly angry when he was told before Feb 25 that some of the presidential candidates were concerned that the process would fail.

There is news that international observers urged him before a president-elect was declared to slow down and investigate what the problem was with the BVAS system and fix it before a candidate is declared the winner. The inauguration is still later in May - delaying election result announcements to ascertain the authenticity of the results is within the power of INEC. He promised he would but the next thing we saw was that he declared a president-elect and issued a certificate. All you hear is, "go to court to challenge the process," which one is faster, INEC rectifying what is seen as a flawed process is easier than going to court where the process is slow and can be easily swayed ... our courts are notorious for giving questionable judgment.. I hope they will prove people like me otherwise in this question.

Those whose candidate was declared a winner would tell you that the election was peaceful and only a pocket of violence was recorded. They are not completely wrong, there was violence but limited to some strongholds. However, the concern about the credibility of the election is not at the polling boots (of course a lot of rigging in some strongholds of some parties) but the organizer, INEC. Numbers announced at the polling boots are not tallying with what INEC reported finally at some boots. I blame the other major parties for not having their own independent result collation system where results are uploaded in real-time. They do not need a BVAS, they only needed an APP on a smartphone. They would have their own results to show Nigerians. Can you imagine if at least two other parties have numbers that tally compared to INEC's? It will be easier to fight....

I am not sure how long we will continue to hold elections that would lack credibility and are questioned by some including the international communities .... Some of the results of the Senate and House of Rep are still pending. About 25% of the results are yet to be announced ..... WHY, what happened, BVAS server is still down 9 days after the election??? It was claimed that only presidential election result transmission could not be transmitted via BVAS, why are all the results of the house not out almost 10 days later. There is the governorship election in 6 days, INEC chairman is expressing regrets about glitches but has not told anyone what those glitches are

STATE OF THE NATION - Nigeria takes one step forward, and ten steps backward...

I just came back from Nigeria . I traversed the length and breadth of the nation a bit in my three-week stay. Something is different about the country compared to when I visited last year.... The people are more desperate... Hunger has increased astronomically.... The gap between the haves and have-nots has further widened... You feel impunity in the air... You see police collecting bribes openly like we have not seen since the Shagari era in 1983... There are more law enforcement agents on the roads now, yet the crime rate has not abated... You see VIO , Road Safety, State Law enforcers, the Police, everywhere mounting illegal roadblocks... I heard things from those close to the seat of power about those who hold the reins of power, and I weep for Nigeria - it is beyond disheartening... Projects are being abandoned because a significant portion has been given as bribes to government officials like governors and ministers, including major monarchs - they all collect money for projects...

WHO SHOULD OR SHOULD NOT HAVE NUKES IN OUR WORLD TODAY?

I quote the father of nukes himself, Albert Einstein , “ Mankind invented the atomic bomb , but no mouse would ever construct a mousetrap ”… No nation should have nukes. If some would, then any nation who want should be able to… current situation creates a power imbalance because those who have it are seen as extremely powerful, and those who don’t are extremely weak nations… Here is a list of nations with nukes – declared and undeclared: U.S., China, Russia, Pakistan, India, France, UK, Israel, and North Korea . These countries host nukes from other countries – Germany , Italy , Türkiye , Belgium , Netherlands and Belarus … Many of USSR ’s former regions like Ukraine and Kazakhstan had nukes, and were tricked to give them up, a decision they all regret today. It is known that Japan , though do not have nukes, have capabilities to develop and launch them within a short time, even from the space. Why can’t other nations have nukes? Ownership of nukes is why Iran is holding the...
