Nigerians Need a Mindset Revolution

Beyond the change of leadership; beyond another election; irrespective of the age of the leaders; change can only come to a people when majority operate with a single mindset that what we do with every opportunity that comes our way will affect us now and the posterity. We will be compelled, to at least, try to make all the right choices.

This common mindset will make us be pragmatic and objective when deciding on who to vote for. It will inform our daily decision in our businesses, in our public service, in our religious obligations, in our community service, in our public service.

We cannot expect a change in our country, while we wish in the deepest part of our heart that we are part of a government that is reckless in handling public resources and property. If you are seeking public office, what is your true motivation?

If ordinary people and citizens are not ready to jettison the old culture of feeding on the national cake at every opportunity, every leader that comes out of the populace will also join the bandwagon of robbers who are thieving our commonwealth. There is an urgent need for a mindset change.

Where do you stand today? How do you practice professional ethics at your place of work? Do you steal 1%, 5%, 10% of your company's resources while nobody is watching; do you use official vehicle for private business; do you get paid to teach children at school but you go about your own private business; do you cheat on your spouse, lie to your family, betray your friends? God is not going to come down from heaven to change Nigeria - no amount of prayer will change the result of a government being led by people with compromised mindset. That prayer should be directed at the mind of the people that needs redemption. We need a #revolution of our minds in Nigeria for a lasting change to come on us.

LAND AND THINGS IN IT - THE CORE FUEL OF GLOBAL DISPUTES

Ukraine , DR Congo , Gaza , Sudan , all forgotten... WHY? We all know the answer... In all these wars ranging, one thing clearly defines them... the quest to take LAND and resources in it from others forcefully... The crisis in the Middle East has nothing to do with religion as some want us to believe... It is a quest to remove the most serious threat to another nation's quest to take other people's land on the premise that it was promised to them by their god over two thousand years ago... Let this country abandon its quest to forcefully take land that does not belong to it anymore and seek true peace (not one sided peace with bomb on one hand and two fingers up on another), it will cease to create enemies for itself, and terrorism will be abated as we know it today... After all, some of its neighbors signed a peace accord called the " Abraham Accord " despite the fact that they take more and more land from the West Bank in violation of international law ( Oslo Acc...

STATE OF THE NATION - Nigeria takes one step forward, and ten steps backward...

I just came back from Nigeria . I traversed the length and breadth of the nation a bit in my three-week stay. Something is different about the country compared to when I visited last year.... The people are more desperate... Hunger has increased astronomically.... The gap between the haves and have-nots has further widened... You feel impunity in the air... You see police collecting bribes openly like we have not seen since the Shagari era in 1983... There are more law enforcement agents on the roads now, yet the crime rate has not abated... You see VIO , Road Safety, State Law enforcers, the Police, everywhere mounting illegal roadblocks... I heard things from those close to the seat of power about those who hold the reins of power, and I weep for Nigeria - it is beyond disheartening... Projects are being abandoned because a significant portion has been given as bribes to government officials like governors and ministers, including major monarchs - they all collect money for projects...
