Aregbe’s Commissioner of Communication Praising Osun Workers for Accepting Half Salary_My Response

If Aregbe told the civil servants that since Osun was drawn into a perpetual state of indebtedness, he has been committing at least 80% of the state’s SECURITY VOTE to supplement worker's salary, then this praise is justified.

This is a total failure of government - Osun is the worst performing state in the whole of South Western part of Nigeria today when you consider all indices of good governance. Even the "Constituted Authority" in Oyo State is better, at least he pays full salary though he is owing to some months arrears. I submit that the reason is based on corruption in government and cluelessness of a man who mortgaged the future of generations yet on born by borrowing to stupor on projects that have not produced the dividend you would expect. When a state refused to fulfill its obligation to its, workers, owing 13 months’ salary arrears and has not plan to pay; when a state has been paying half salary for close to two years and calls it "modulated salary”. This is heartlessness. This government is far from the people to know how many lives have been lost because of penury and poverty. How many could no longer afford to send their wards to the university like UnioOsun because it will take like 3 to 4 year salary to pay one session tuition for a child, and many have to combine other means to provide food on the table. Aregbe CANNOT and is NOT BOLD enough to tell the people of Osun how much money he has borrowed during his 7-year tenure. Osun is the state that collects the least subvention but it ranks top of the states that owes the most in the nation. Osun owes hundreds of billions of naira, and we cannot see the dividend of this borrowing in term of IGR this money is generating. Other than projects that Aregbe has used to enrich his cronies – projects given to foreign governments, we cannot see anything. Osun cannot feed its people, most staple foods come from the North in a state with large arable land. Cocoa production in Osun has not improved significantly in 7 years of Aregbe. Some point to the overpass at Gbongan intersection, some kilometers of roads all over Osun state, renovated schools, unified uniform, wasteful Opon-imon, white elephant multipurpose center, among Aregbe’s achievements. None of these have translated into any significant economic gain for the people. Osun state still remains poor and insolvent, generating next to meager IGR.

There is no evidence of frugality on the part of Osun state government, and they have forced so much on the civil servants and the people of Osun. Electorates need to judge fairly if this is what we want for our children. A government that cannot provide jobs (who will out-source jobs meant for Osun to other states and foreign entities like the Chinese), that cannot make university education affordable, a government that is watching while the fate of almost 30,000 students at Lautech perishes. We reject this type of government or leadership. We need people who can deliver for our people. I call on young Osun people to stand up against party politics, find young and dynamic people with proven record of achievement to lead the state.

THERE IS A SHORT WINDOW FOR PEACE IN THE MIDDLE EAST, CONCERNED PARTIES SHOULD GRAB IT WITH BOTH HANDS

Exactly a year today, the terror organization Hamas struck terror in the hearts of Israelis. Over 1200, mostly innocent people were murdered in cold blood in the most barbaric way. The evil wrecked by Hamas reminds us of the evil we are capable of as humans if we think there will not be any form of accountability. The attack is condemned in all of its forms. Such should never happen again. My heart goes out to families mourning dead family members, and those still waiting for their families taken hostage to return to them alive.   Since then, the Israeli army has unleashed terror of their own on Hamas, in the process killing so many innocent Palestinians in an attempt to exterminate Hamas, and their own terror continues, mostly on innocent Palestinians. Israel engaged in what some called genocide by cutting off water, food, power, internet, and major resources to over 2 million Palestinians in Gaza. The world has condemned the way Israel is prosecuting the war because they have bee...

When you discover the wisdom of the universe, it is as if...

When you locate the wisdom of the universe, it would be as if you have a magic wand... Your prosperity rolls over, you climb to the top faster and leave many behind... Funke Akindele's movie, "A tribe called Judah" remains the highest-grossing movie in Nollywood (Nigeria's movie industry). I saw the movie last week and could not make head or tail of it.. But something was unique about it. It was the first Nigerian movie that cast MANY actors from all the major ethnic groups in the nation.. These are top actors... For so long, Nollywood has been divided along ethnic lines... You have the Yorubas doing their thing, the Igbos doing their own and our brothers in the North, the Hausas doing their own. But this movie cast actors from everywhere, so, it became a must-see for almost all Nigerians ... Funke Akindele is a talented writer, actor, and producer. But she is also a shrewd businesswoman. She located the wisdom in tapping the talent of diverse ethnic groups in Nigeria...
